Day 44-WSOC Chaos

Today's morning meeting brought about a bit of confusion and chaos. With an outside opponent coming to town for a women's soccer game, the wrong time was communicated to staff as to when the game would be. Thus what was told to myself and student workers of a 7 pm start time was incorrect, and in fact the game would be played at 4 pm. After the issue was realized, I was tasked with trying to restaff the event with my student workers having very little time to do so. Luckily, my early preparation and planning that designed my slack app communication channel helped me spread the word to the workers. Identify those who were scheduled and no longer available, and find new workers to cover their shifts at no fault of their own. It took a few hours of constant communication to get a full staff, and train them ahead of time on the scoreboard and ball rolling duties, but overall we were able to function seamlessly that day.

The issue showed me the importance to communication from coaches to administrators on verifying each and every detail! Just because we had been playing all games at 7 pm, someone from both sides should have verified the start time which would have prevented all the chaos and changes in plans.
