Cheryl Trotter in human resources has become one of my close contacts as we are in touch daily with confirming paperwork and those who have been hired. Three more students have been officially approved since last week, and a number of others are still setting up appointments to finalize their paperwork. With the new hires, two were hired for coaches assistant roles one for both men's and women's lacrosse. Within this position, students assist in painting the game and practice fields as discussed earlier. Thus I had the opportunity to train the two individuals together today, showing them the basics of how to use the machine and stringing line for best results.

In addition to teaching them how to paint, I have addressed a number of questions my other trained painter has asked since being hired so that they will not have the same questions. Such as where to dispose of empty paint buckets, where to get water for cleaning off the machine, and when best hours are to avoid teams on the fields/mowing/dew etc. The training went well, and both individuals got a chance to paint their respective fields they would be in charge of with my supervision. They are not great yet, but they did both have positive attitudes, and a desire to learn and do better throughout the year! If you have ever lined a field, you know it is not easy. Practice makes perfect! Below is an image of a line on a practice field. It needs a lot of work, but we are a few weeks out from competition and luckily fades out weekly as we mow so often. No harm done, and the students are gaining valuable experience before it really matters on a game day!
